Rohm and Haas to buy Kodak's light management films unit
April 18 (Reuters) - Rohm and Haas Co. ROH.N said it agreed to acquire Eastman Kodak Co.'s EK.N light management films business to grow its electronic materials segment.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The light management films business produces films that improve the brightness and efficiency of liquid crystal displays.
As part of the deal, Rohm and Haas will acquire the intellectual property associated with Kodak's light management films.
The acquisition also includes a semiworks facility in Rochester, New York, and the supply of key raw materials.
After the close of the deal, Rohm and Haas will build a high-volume manufacturing facility in Asia, the company said in a statement. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2007, it said.
