LONDON May 3 (Reuters) - Finance house Goldman Sachs (GS.N) said on Thursday it has promoted head of UK investment banking Simon Dingemans to focus on client relationships and leading major transactions in the UK and continental Europe. Dingemans will be replaced as head of the UK investment bank by two co-heads: Julian Metherell and Alasdair Warren, according to an internal memo dated May 1.

Dingemans has run UK investment banking since 2000. "He has been promoted and now has a broader role that includes Europe as well as the UK," said a spokesman for the bank.
