Goldman to sell much of power generation assets

NEW YORK May 10 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS.N) has put a significant portion of its power generation assets up for sale, seeking bids for all or most of 14 plants, according to a memorandum distributed Thursday to potential buyers.

The memo, obtained by Reuters, says Goldman will sell power plant interests in 14 plants with combined net operating generation capacity of 2,566 megawatts. Goldman will retain 100 percent interest in four projects as well as its power generation subsidiary, Cogentrix Energy.

Goldman Sachs declined to comment.
