U.S. money market assets set $2.5 trillion record

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. money market mutual fund assets rose to a record $2.5 trillion in the latest week, the Money Fund Report said on Wednesday.

Taxable assets rose $15 billion to a record $2.1 trillion, while tax-free assets increased by $937 million, said the report published by iMoneyNet Inc. of Westborough, Massachusetts.

Taxable money fund yields were unchanged in the latest week at an average 4.72 percent. Tax-free money fund yields rose 3 basis points in the latest week to an average 3.13 percent.

The report is based on reports from 1,274 taxable and 542 tax-free and municipal money-market funds.
