Hearst Beverly Hills estate on sale for $165 million

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The 6.5 acre Beverly Hills estate of famed newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst was put on the market on Monday for $165 million, making it one of the most expensive estates listed in the United States.
The "Beverly House Compound" was designed by architect Gordon Kaufmann and built in the late 1920s.
Hearst was its second owner and made the estate his permanent residence, with film actress Marion Davies, from 1947 until his death in 1951.
The estate, spread over six and a half acres, is being sold by financier Leonard Ross, who has owned it for 31 years.
"Everything is up to date with the charm of the 1920s remaining," said Stephen Shapiro with Westside Estate Agency, the company that listed the estate.
The estate has three pools, two tennis courts and an extensive security system.
