(Reuters) - Following are key facts on ABN AMRO's AAH.AS U.S. arm LaSalle Bank Corp, at the centre of a battle for control of the Dutch bank.
-- LaSalle ranks among the top U.S. banking companies, with more than $124 billion of assets and more than 400 branches, primarily in the Chicago area and in Michigan.
-- LaSalle had a 14.1 percent share of deposits in the Chicago area as of June 30, 2006, trailing only JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s (JPM.N) 15.3 percent, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
-- Roughly one-third of LaSalle's branches, but close to 60 percent of assets, are in the Chicago area.
-- LaSalle Bank, chartered as National Builders' Bank of Chicago, opened in 1927 at LaSalle Street and Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago. The street is named for the 17th century French explorer Rene-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle.
-- The company was renamed LaSalle National Bank in 1940.
