FACTBOX-Five facts about Tammy Faye Bakker Messner
(Reuters) - Five facts about former television evangelist Tammy Faye Bakker Messner, who died on Friday after a long battle with cancer at age 65.
* Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker, her former husband with whom she became a household name in America through the PTL organization ("Praise The Lord" or "People That Love") that he founded in 1974, met while students at North Central Bible College in Minneapolis and were married in 1961.
* She and Bakker got their big break in 1965 when they created a puppet show for evangelist Pat Robertson's television show.
* Messner told salon.com that she had eyeliner, eyebrows and lip liner permanently tattooed on her face. She also had liposuction because "I was that old-fashioned hourglass figure and all the sand had fallen into the bottom."
* Messner underwent treatment at the Betty Ford Clinic
for addiction to Ativan, an anti-anxiety drug.
* Messner once explained her affinity for makeup by saying: "You don't have to be dowdy to be a Christian."
