(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1930 GMT on Sunday:

BAGHDAD - Seventeen bodies, including those of three women, have been found around Baghdad in past 24 hours, police said.

BAGHDAD - Stray bullets killed two people and wounded 40 in Baghdad after the Iraqi football team beat Saudi Arabia in the final of the Asian Cup, police said.

Five people were killed and 16 wounded in the city of Kut, 170 km (105 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - One U.S. soldier was killed during combat in an eastern section of Baghdad on Sunday, the U.S. military said.

BALAD - Six people were killed and another wounded in a mortar attack in Balad, 80 km (50 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - One U.S. soldier was killed by small arms fire north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

BASRA - Insurgents blew up a replica statue of the famous Lion of Babylon artifact in the southern Iraqi city of Basra, police said.

BAGHDAD - Iraqi security forces arrested two men in a car filled with explosives in the eastern Baghdad district of Zayouna, police said. The men were accused of waiting to target soccer fans celebrating Iraq's appearance in the Asian Cup final.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb targeting an Iraqi army patrol wounded four people, including a soldier, in Baghdad's Zayouna area, police said.

KIRKUK - A mortar bomb wounded five people in a residential area of Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, police and hospital sources said.

BAGHDAD - The bodies of 20 people were found in different areas of Baghdad on Saturday, police said.

BAGHDAD - Three people were wounded by a mortar round which fell near the former residence of the French ambassador near al-Mesbah intersection in central Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed eight suspected insurgents and detained 22 others during operations targeting al Qaeda members in Baghdad, Samarra, Tikrit, Yusufiya and Tarmiya, the U.S. military said.

NEAR TUZ KHURMATO - Gunmen killed eight people and wounded two others on Saturday in a drive-by shooting in a Turkman village near the town of Tuz Khurmato, about 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

KUT - Gunmen killed a policeman in Kut, south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Iraqi soldiers arrested 44 suspected insurgents during the past 24 hours in different parts of Iraq, the Defense Ministry said.
