Boeing eyeing higher 787 output: Ultra CEO

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Ultra Electronics said on Monday that planemaker Boeing Co. was talking to suppliers about the possibility of raising production of its 787 airliner to keep pace with surging sales.

"Boeing are already talking to the supply chain about raising 787 output from 14 to 16 aircraft a month," Chief Executive Douglas Caster told Reuters in a telephone interview.

The 787 is the fastest selling Boeing airliner in history and is due to enter service next year.

Ultra posted a 7 percent rise in mid-year underlying operating profit on Monday, helped by a jump in earnings from its Aircraft & Vehicle Systems division.

Caster said the company would have no problem in raising output of the components it is supplying for the 787 should Boeing require it to do so.
