Huawei to buy 16.5 pct 3Com stake, Bain 83.5 pct

NEW YORK Oct 11 (Reuters) - 3Com COMS.O said on Thursday that China's biggest network equipment provider Huawei [HWT.UL] would take a 16.5 percent stake in 3Com, with the potential to increase its stake by as much as an additional 5 percent.

Also under their agreement announced last month private equity firm Bain agreed to buy 83.5 percent of 3Com's voting shares, 3Com said in a document filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

3Com said Huawei will appoint three out of 11 directors on 3Com's board. It also said Bain agreed to subject the deal to a review by the U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
