Icahn bolsters BEA stake through options exercise

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Billionaire investor Carl Icahn reported on Friday that he exercised on October 10 about 34.5 million call options for BEA Systems Inc BEAS.O common stock.

Icahn, who has been pressuring the software maker to put itself up for sale, said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that he exercised 8.5 million call options for $9 a share and 26.05 million call options for $7.50 a share.

The transactions brought his ownership in BEA stock to about 51.82 million shares, according to the SEC filing.
