Anesiva says local anesthetic trial gets positive results

Dec 26 (Reuters) - Par Pharmaceutical Cos. Inc. (PRX.N) said it got U.S. regulatory approval for the generic version of GlaxoSmithKline Plc's (GSK.L) Zofran tablets, used for the prevention of chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting.

The approval is for ondansetron orally disintegrating tablets in 4 mg and 8 mg strengths, the company said.

Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s BRL.N Pliva Inc. subsidiary will have exclusive rights to market, sell and distribute the tablets in the United States, Par Pharma said.
