IRVINE, Calif.--(Business Wire)--Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication
Systems Division (Toshiba -- www.telecom.toshiba.com) today announced
the launch of the newly enhanced Toshiba Strata(R) CIX(TM)40 IP
business communication system. Now available, the new Toshiba CIX40
expanded trunk capacity from six to 11, IP channels from eight to 24,
and voice mail ports from four to eight. The Strata CIX40 accommodates
users in a mix of IP and digital endpoints and is sized and priced
just right for SMB and branch office users.
"Delivering big-company features at a price point that's
affordable for small businesses, the Strata CIX40 now offers increased
capacity," said Bob Lerche, product manager for Toshiba America
Information Systems Telecommunication Systems Division. "Users of the
original Strata CIX40 model can also upgrade their existing systems
with new software to expand trunk capacity from six to 10, IP channels
from eight to 16, and voice mail ports from four to eight. Strata
CIX40 users can also migrate to a larger CIX system, in keeping with
Toshiba's promise to never leave a customer behind."
With the new Strata CIX40, users can have up to 24 IP telephones
in addition to 16 digital telephones for a total of 40 users on a
single system. This is three times the number of IP telephones on the
original Strata CIX40 system. Users have a choice of eight, 16 or 24
IP channels. Standard configuration is four analog CO lines, eight
digital telephones and one analog port for fax/modem. The new Strata
CIX40 is compatible with all of Toshiba's IP phones, the SoftIPT(R)
soft phone and digital telephones, as well as Toshiba-certified
third-party SIP telephones.
The IP channels may be used for networking or IP telephones and
are individually selectable by the user. The Strata CIX40 can be
networked with Toshiba's larger CIX100, CIX200, CIX670 IP business
communication systems, or other CIX40 systems, and can migrate to any
of the larger systems.
Now available with the Strata CIX40 is expanded voice mail
capacity from four to six or eight ports. Standard configuration
provides four voice mail ports.
The new Strata CIX40 is compatible with Toshiba's IP User Mobility
Feature, which allows a user to log in from a new location to his or
her SoftIPT soft phone or an IP desk phone even when the extension is
being used at another desktop IP telephone or mobile device. IP User
Mobility also allows users who share a common workstation to log in
and use a shared phone with their own individual extensions and
profiles. Users of the original CIX40 may also upgrade to this
software.
Coming soon for the Strata CIX40 is new software that will enable
SIP Trunking when equipped with an MIPU IP interface card.
In addition, the new Strata CIX40 has all the features of the
larger Strata CIX systems including:
-- Strata Net Networking -- Strata CIX40 can be networked with
all of Toshiba's Strata CIX family, allowing large companies
to use the Strata CIX40 for branch offices and smaller

plug-and-play voice processing. This is an optional feature.

combined on a single media application server, including
Toshiba's Voice Processing/unified messaging solution, ACD,
Video conferencing/collaboration, FeatureFlex(R), My Phone
Manager(R) personal administration tool, and eManager(R)
system administration tool, and more.
-- Network ACD -- ACD groups on multiple networked Strata CIX
systems, including the Strata CIX40, can be configured so that
calls can be routed to available agents on any system in any
location on the network. It extends the functionality of Net
Phone over the network for features such as Network DSS/BLF
and/or Chat between users in multiple nodes. Consolidated call
center reports include activity from all agents and calls over
the network for the entire system.
