Ralink's 802.11n APSOC/iNIC RT2880 Passes DFS Testing
CUPERTINO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--Ralink Technology Corporation, a leading developer of 802.11xchipsets, today announced that its 802.11n APSOC and iNIC (IntelligentNetwork Interface Card) RT2880 has received Dynamic FrequencySelection (DFS) certification from Sporton International Inc., aleading telecommunication mobile certification body and serviceprovider recognized by the FCC, Notified Body, DGT and CTIA. DFS is a recent FCC requirement for operation in the 5.3 GHz andnewly-available 5.4 GHz bands. It shifts client and access pointradios to a different channel if it detects a radar transmission, andwill automatically adjust the strength of the radio signal to increaseor decrease the coverage area. RT2880 is Ralink's 802.11n APSoC/iNIC with a built in MIPSprocessor to enable total wireless LAN offload from the host CPU. Nowwith DFS capabilities it allows Ralink's customers to build Accesspoints/router designs, Broadband platforms, Ethernet to Wi-Fi bridgesand Dual band concurrent routers without limitation in the 5GHzfrequency band.
