Mu Xi Lambda Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Announces Launch of
Year-end Donation and Sponsorship Drive
Fund-raising Effort Facilitated in Support of Chapter's 2008 Community Action
Initiative Serving Inland Empire Area Youth

    SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mu Xi Lambda Chapter
of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. today announced the start of its
year-end donation and sponsorship drive. The fund-raising campaign is being
facilitated in support of the Chapter's 2008 "In The Community Campaign," a
youth-focused community-based initiative.  Founded in 1906, Alpha Phi Alpha
Fraternity, Inc. is the nation's leading organization providing prominent
African-American male leadership.  As a priority, the Mu Xi Lambda Chapter
leverages its 501c3 non-profit designation to serve male youth and young
adults of African descent.  On a broader scope, the Chapter facilitates
ongoing outreach to the Inland Empire's multi-ethnic student population at-
    "We are excited to partner with corporations and other organizations who
share in our mission to provide character building and educationally enriching
experiences for youth of color," said Kevin Baker, president, Mu Xi Lambda
Chapter. "The 2008 campaign presents an excellent marketing platform, which

    Since its formation in 1977, the Mu Xi Lambda Chapter has been active in
the Inland Empire by providing leadership development and mentoring assistance
via the Fraternity's national and local initiatives. The Chapter utilizes
funds raised through its community outreach activities to award scholarships
to deserving students.  Businesses, philanthropists and others have the
opportunity to support this effort by sponsoring the 2008 "In The Community
Campaign," a yearlong event-based initiative inclusive of the following:

    -- Project Alpha Male Teen Mentoring Seminars
    -- Annual Scholarship Fund Benefit Golf Tournament
    -- Annual MLK Walk-A-Thon

    -- Annual Black & Gold Scholarship Gala
