New Retail Service Featuring Company's Renowned DVD Optical Drive
Being Demonstrated at CES
LAS VEGAS--(Business Wire)--Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., in collaboration with Sonic
Solutions, TitleMatch Entertainment Group and Primera Technology,
announces today the demonstration of a fully-functional Qflix(TM)
DVD-on-Demand Service with CSS encryption in its Consumer Electronics
Show booth #9827. The Qflix program, developed by Pioneer and Sonic
Solutions(R), offers a new means for content owners to release titles
for custom production and sale while maintaining the same level of
content protection used on commercially mass-produced DVDs.

"We are very excited to be part of such an innovative service that
will augment the retail, distribution and consumer experience of DVD
purchasing. Our efforts to establish Qflix with Sonic Solutions
further reinforce Pioneer's strong commitment to optical disc
development for both traditional and non-traditional content
distribution," said Andy Parsons, senior vice president at Pioneer
Electronics (USA) Inc.

Qflix was established to facilitate the adoption of secure
downloading and burn applications, in accordance with the "DVD
Download" industry-approved specifications for recording downloads set
forth by the DVD Forum and the DVD Copy Control Association (DVDCCA).

"We are delighted to be collaborating with Pioneer to provide CES
visitors a glimpse into the future of digital distribution," said Jim
Taylor, senior vice president and general manager of Sonic Solutions'
Advanced Technology Group. "Responding to consumer and industry
interest in the electronic sell-through of video content and
facilitating the adoption of secure download and burn applications,
the Sonic and Pioneer partnership promises to usher in a new era of
convenient consumer access to a broad range of quality entertainment."

Pioneer is featuring the TitleMatch DVD On-Demand service which
allows retail customers to purchase DVD movies and home entertainment
directly from a touch screen. Customer selected content is
automatically recorded and printed direct-to-disc using a Primera
Bravo XRP Disc Publisher, which features two integrated Pioneer
BDC-202MR Optical Drives for immediate delivery at point-of-sale.
