Colonial sells Barcelona plot to Inbisa

MADRID Jan 9 (Reuters) - Inmobiliaria Colonial (COL.MC) has sold a 10,215 square metre plot of land in Barcelona to Inbisa, its unlisted rival said on Wednesday, the latest in a line of asset sales by the beleaguered Spanish property company.

Inbisa did not say how much it had agreed to pay. Nobody at Colonial was available to comment.

Highly indebted Colonial has sold a spate of assets for a total of more than 300 million euros in the last few weeks after its shares plummeted, its top shareholder quit as chairman and directors were forced to explain positions they had on the stock.

On Wednesday, Colonial shares lost another 12.1 percent to close at 1.31 euros on more concerns about the company and the Spanish property market, which has slowed sharply after a decade-long boom.

In a statement, Inbisa said it planned to build 102 houses and a 20-storey tower on the land in Hospitalet de Llobregat. (Reporting by Clara Vilar; Translating by Jane Barrett; Editing by Quentin Bryar)
