MEXICO CITY Jan 10 (Reuters) - Same-store sales for Mexican retailers are seen up a marginal 1 percent this year as supermarket and department stores face a slowing economy, Jose Manuel Sanchez, chairman of industry group ANTAD, told Reuters on Thursday.

Retailers' same-store sales, those open at 12 months or more and the most accurate picture of retail trends, are believed to have risen 1.1 percent in 2007, down from 4.3 percent growth in 2006, ANTAD said earlier this month.

Supermarkets, restaurants and department stores had a rough ride in 2007, hurt by declining remittances from Mexicans living in the United States and by a cooling local economy.

ANTAD members include leader Wal-Mart de Mexico (WALMEXV.MX), Soriana (SORIANAB.MX), Comercial Mexicana (COMEUBC.MX) and 88 other retailers, (Reporting by Cyntia Barrera Diaz; Editing by Diane Craft)
