Artprice Engine(R), Enables Artprice to Broaden its Market and Multiply the
Capacity of the Artprice Catalogs Library(R) by a Factor of Thirty

PARIS, January 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- On 15 January 2008, Artprice
is launching Artprice Engine(R), the search engine at the heart of the
Artprice Catalogs Library(R). Artprice holds the largest archive of auction
catalogues in the world (290,000 catalogues dating from 1700 to the present
day). Artprice has also added to this resource through the acquisition of
major art market information databanks (Bayer, Mayer, Mireur, Van Wilder,
etc.)
Pursuant to a contractual agreement with ADAGP, the French collective
rights management society in the field of the visual arts and its 43 sister
companies, as of 27 August 2007 Artprice has posted high definition digitised
versions of catalogue pages and its reference resources online, together with
commentary from our art historians and editors.
Following the reconfiguration of the 36 million existing pages in our
proprietary database, and consistent with our previous announcement,
Artprice's R&D department has today brought into operation Artprice
Engine(R), an integrated search engine enabling users to rapidly search for
key words in the index tables of several billion words, photographs and
videos, giving Artprice Library(R) and Artprice Images(R) subscribers access
to full-text searches on an unrivalled knowledge database of art history. For
example, a still life collector wishing to carry out a rapid search on the
'vanitas' theme will be able to retrieve the pages containing a reference to
the word 'vanitas' directly, with no less than 1,095 mentions coming up for
the 2000-2007 period. Another search based on typological classification: no
less than 3,436 pieces of furniture produced by Knoll International came up
at auction and are referenced by Artprice for 2007.
Artprice thus offers the first global coverage of Antique auction
catalogues - Collectors' items, Design, Books. Furniture, Fine Art Objects,
Watches and Jewellery, Ceramics, etc. Artprice has reconfigured the structure
of each of the catalogues, giving the user access, in just one click, to the
order page, standardised artist indices, terms of sale or even the original
results page. Until now, such information was only available through our
classic search engine by artist and by sales. They are reserved for the
exclusive use of subscribers to the 'Artprice Images' range (subscriptions
start at EUR128/year).
Artprice has increased its storage capacity to 300 GB, thus offering its
users the first truly full-text search engine for the art market. This
information enables Artprice to extend its original market, the art market
and its players, to a more global target: the education sector, teachers,
researchers, institutions, art historians, etc.
Artprice's Artist Email Alert and My Artprice services will soon be
linked to all types of full text searches in order to provide a customised,
effective and exhaustive (2,900 auction houses) service. Its
commercialization under Artprice Engine(R) licence for database editors is
underway for 2008.
