John O'Farrell Joins Silver Spring Networks as Executive Vice President of Business Development
Experienced Executive to Lead Silver Spring Networks New Business
Development Drive
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(Business Wire)--Silver Spring Networks, a leading provider of Smart Energy
Networks, announced today that John O'Farrell has joined the company
as Executive Vice President of Business Development. In this role,
John will be responsible for cultivating new opportunities in the
areas of energy efficiency and smart grid networking and will report
to Scott Lang, President and CEO.

development as well as his past strategic, operational and
international roles in the software and networking industries will

abroad will also be invaluable."
John is a senior executive with over 20 years of US and
international experience. Most recently, John was Executive Vice
President, Business Development, at Opsware. During his tenure at
Opsware, John was responsible for four successful acquisitions, major
strategic partnerships with EDS and Cisco, and other strategic
transactions culminating in the sale of Opsware to HP (HPQ) for $1.65
Billion in September 2007. Prior to Opsware, John was Executive Vice
President, International, for Excite@Home, where he founded the
international division and grew it to $70M in annual revenues. Earlier
in his career, John held positions of increasing responsibility in the
United States and Europe with organizations including MediaOne
Group/US West, Booz Allen and Hamilton, Telecom Ireland and the
European Commission.
