External PCIe Disk Enclosure Enables Ultimate Bandwidth with the
Lowest Latency Possible to Deliver Unmatched Performance in Rich Media
                                Editing
MINNEAPOLIS--(Business Wire)--Ciprico Inc. (NASDAQ: CPCI), a leading provider of intelligent
storage software, solutions and appliances, will launch its MediaVault
5116 PCI express(R) (PCIe) direct attached storage solution at the
Macworld Conference and Expo on January 15-18 in San Francisco. The
MediaVault 5116 is the second member of the award-winning MediaVault
5100 series, adding for the first time support for the Mac OS X
operating system, further enabling unmatched storage performance for
content creation.

Mac OS X users may now greatly enhance their ability to quickly
complete their video production and content creation projects with the
ultimate in performance, flexibility and reliability delivered by this
new member of the MediaVault family. With this new desktop or
rack-mount 16 drive solution, video editors and production
professionals may now enjoy the highest performance achievable at an
affordable price, while supporting capacities of up to 16 terabytes.

Based on Ciprico's signature RAIDCore technology, the MV5116 will
support both SAS and SATA II drives while connecting to the host
computer at data rates five times faster than 4G Fiber Channel
solutions. Utilizing the latest SAS disk drives, the 5116 has
demonstrated streaming performance of up to 1.4GByte/s, making it one
of the first products to support two 2K video streams simultaneously.
Furthermore, the rich management and scalability features of the
MV5116 make it an ideal direct attach storage expansion unit for
servers such as Apple's Xserve, providing up to 16TB of ultra high
performance storage via a single PCI express expansion slot.

"The best solutions are the simplest, and by extending the PCIe
bus into the MV5116, an editor working on a Mac Pro will enjoy the
greatest bandwidth, 20Gbps, with the lowest latency at the lowest
cost," said Steven Merrifield, President and CEO of Ciprico. "Our
MediaVault series has been making a big impact in the rich media
production and performance storage expansion industries, and it's only
fitting that we help enhance the experience for those using the
leading operating system currently available for content creation."

The MediaVault 5100 solutions come all inclusive with a host
interface board (HBA), Ciprico's RAIDCore software installed and all
necessary adapters and cables. Easy to install, easy to configure and
scalable by as few as one drive at a time to meet current and future
needs, the MediaVault solutions for Mac OS X achieve price performance
and flexibility with a rich set of features that are unmatched in the
Mac market.
