CASINO Deploys Streamcore to Further Strengthen Logistics via Reduced Network Congestion and Cost
Streamcore's StreamSense improved the global food distributor's
application performance and network insight without the use of
additional bandwidth
EMERYVILLE, Calif.--(Business Wire)--Streamcore, the leading global provider of application visibility
and automated control for business-critical networks, today announced
that CASINO Group has deployed Streamcore to improve visibility into
application performance and to control network performance without the
need for additional bandwidth.
CASINO Group is a rapidly growing retail food distribution company
with nearly 10,000 stores in 11 countries. CASINO was constantly
adding new applications for their staff of 192,000, and urgently
needed a solution to resolve their debilitating network congestion
issues that were straining their logistics and employee productivity.
CASINO could not ensure that each user had the sufficient bandwidth
needed to work with the required Web applications crucial to the
company's logistics to move perishable goods.
Additionally, CASINO Group also needed to implement a new
marketing application that would play a vital part in their customer
loyalty program; however the new application would exceed the
perceived network's capacity. CASINO IT, the company's IT division,
realized the marketing application would pose an additional risk to
the over-utilized network and existing applications, and had to find a
way to view and resolve the unsustainable network traffic problems as
it rolled out the new marketing application. Adding more bandwidth was
an option, but the perpetual investment to upgrade DSL connections was
not. CASINO needed to gain a deeper understanding of their network, so
they began to evaluate network and application performance management
products as a solution.
In sum, the number of applications needed to run the business and
support a new successful marketing program was overwhelming the
network, slowing down application performance and employee
productivity.
"We tested various network management technologies, and saw that
Streamcore gave us an advantage by offering real-time network and
application visibility in addition to controlling application
performance," said Didier Andre, network and telecoms manager at
CASINO Group. "We are now able to get real-time information that
allows us to prioritize applications and adapt application behavior to
optimize network performance and solve our performance issue."
CASINO IT deployed Streamcore's StreamSense platform to centrally
manage the network traffic for all sites connected to the data center
- without the need to deploy probes at every site. Now the company's
two main MPLS networks receive a full range of WAN application
performance management functionality including advanced QoS, more
granular control for application flows, to give CASINO Group the
maximum benefit with the minimum investment.
"We now use Streamcore to qualify new applications before
launching them on the network," said Andre. "In addition, we are able
to compress traffic by more than 60 percent to enable more traffic
flow into the network."
Using Streamcore's StreamSense platform, CASINO has gained total
and holistic visibility into their network and is able to prioritize
applications based on importance to improve performance. What is more,
the new marketing application was installed seamlessly and users no
longer experienced interruptions or network downtime.
