Green Builders Homes Shine With Energy Star Rating From U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency
Completed Green Homes and Communities Tout Green Features and Lifestyle From
the Foundation to the Roof and Everything in Between
AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Green Builders, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: WSHD), the leading large-scale community developer of
green, sustainable homes, is pleased to announce it has received the ENERGY
STAR (R) certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on
all of the company's first completed green built homes. A 15 year old joint
program of the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy, the ENERGY STAR program
helps consumers save money and protect the environment through energy
efficient products and practices.
"We're all trying to do our part to create as little impact on the
environment as possible when building new homes," explains Clark Wilson, CEO
and President of Green Builders, Inc. "Our ENERGY STAR certification is
further demonstration of our commitment. Just one ENERGY STAR qualified new
home can keep 4,500 pounds of greenhouse gases out of our air each year. With
our participation in the EPA's ENERGY STAR program, we're helping consumers
live green and maintain a healthy lifestyle."
All of Green Builders' first 15 completed homes in Georgetown Village in
Georgetown, Texas, a suburb of Austin, Texas, feature a built-in recycling
center, ENERGY STAR GE dishwasher, tankless water heater, conduits for future
solar panels, and low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paint and varnishes
which are used throughout the home to reduce off gassing. In addition, these
homes and all future Green Builders homes will offer a monthly energy savings
of more than $100 on average, leveraging state-of-the-art foam insulation on
the roof and walls to reduce heat from the outdoors, seal the home for cleaner
air quality with less pollens, molds and allergens, and reduce heating and
cooling costs by up to 50 percent. The use of compact fluorescent lighting
throughout the homes further allows home owners to enjoy the benefits of
energy savings and reducing environmental impact as soon as they move into a
Green Builders home.
All these features are available along with other green upgrades such as
recycled clay tile floors in all wet areas, bamboo or sustainable wood floors,
recycled carpets, and locally harvested granite or Tresca countertops. Green
Builders homes are designed with Environmental Centers that feature all of the
technical components needed to manage your home in one central area. This area
provides convenient and easy access to equipment for HVAC, security, cable TV,
telephone and water distribution. Each property also incorporates hydro-zoned
landscaping with native plants and trees and a centralized sprinkler system
with rain sensor, allowing for minimal watering in selected areas rather than
saturating an entire area just to maintain one section of the yard.
"Green Builders is an exceptionally proactive builder who is really
working with the available local resources to create beautiful,
traditional-looking homes with environmentally friendly concepts and
materials," explains Dondi Atwell, Managing Inspector, ATS Engineering.
"Working with builders to test their energy ratings can be a challenge, but
all the Green Builders homes go well beyond the expectations securing them the
highly recognized ENERGY STAR certification."
Green Builders energy efficient homes are priced from the $200,000s to
$700,000s and available throughout the Austin area.
