Industry's only real-time VOD bandwidth manager preserves SD and
                          HD picture quality
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(Business Wire)--RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, today
announced that its new Dynamic Bandwidth Manager (DBM) has
successfully completed extensive testing with a top five U.S. cable
operator which has validated its ability to enable the delivery of
dramatically more video-on-demand (VOD) programming without requiring
more bandwidth or impacting picture quality.

The DBM was integrated into the operator's system used for
monitoring and testing new and existing digital cable technologies.
This near 'real world' testing was comprehensive and evaluated all
aspects of the DBM and its use as part of a cable operator's complete
VOD system. In addition to proving the DBM's bandwidth optimizing and
picture quality capabilities, the testing showed that the low latency
of the DBM ensures a transparent experience when using VOD's
fast-forward, rewind and pause 'trickplay' features.

"The popularity of VOD is increasing rapidly, and operators are
interested in adding more HD VOD services, consuming vast amounts of
bandwidth. This successful testing proves that the DBM can address
cable operators' need to meet the growing demand for VOD programming,
and continue to increase their HD VOD services, without resorting to
costly or complicated measures for increasing available bandwidth,"
said Ramin Farassat, Vice President of Product Marketing for RGB.

The DBM is based on RGB's unique Video Intelligence
Architecture(TM) (VIA), giving it an unprecedented ability to lower
VOD bandwidth usage by up to 50 percent through the simultaneous
processing of up to 1,200 programs. This dramatically lowers the
cost-per-stream for operators to transrate individual VOD programs,
making wide scale use of the DBM exceptionally cost-effective.

Complementing the DBM's stream processing density, it can be
purchased with licensing for Privacy Mode Encryption. This combination
enables cable operators to encrypt all of their VOD programs to ensure
they can only be viewed by authorized subscribers. Accomplishing this
on the scale necessary for major VOD deployments requires the
simultaneous bulk encryption of hundreds of VOD programs in real time,
which today can only be accomplished with the DBM.
