TORONTO, ONTARIO, Jan 15 (MARKET WIRE) --
Manicouagan Minerals Inc. (TSX VENTURE: MAM) announced today additional
encouraging assay results from the Phase II drilling program currently
underway on its wholly owned Brabant Lake zinc deposit. Assays have been
received for drill holes BR-07-38, BR-07-39, and BR-07-40.
All three drill holes intersected the targeted Lower Zone. The Lower Zone
in drill-hole BR-07-40 assayed 9.91% Zn, 1.05% Cu and 40.88 g/t Ag over
4.32 metres. Drill hole BR-07-40 also intersected three discrete zones of
the Upper Zone. These zones aggregate 9.78 metres and include one zone of
5.50 metres assaying 5.43% Zn from 377.98 to 383.48 metres down hole.
The Lower Zone in drill hole BR-07-39 returned 15.99% Zn over 1.81
metres. This hole also intersected two discrete portions of the Upper
Zone. The lowermost of these returned 10.90% Zn over 5.34 metres. Drill
hole BR-07-39 also intersected the Hanging Wall Zone which assayed 6.39%
Zn over 2.52 metres.
Drill hole BR-07-38 returned the highest value silver intercept of the
three holes assaying 62.52 g/t Ag, 5.91% Zn and 1.99% Pb over 2.07 metres
within the Lower Zone. At Brabant Lake silver rich portions of the
deposit are characteristically associated with galena, a lead sulphide.
These results continue to support the objective of the current program
which is designed to expand the known limits of the Lower Zone in order
to calculate a revised resource estimate in early 2008.
Assay Results for drill holes BR-07-38, BR-07-39 and BR-07-40 are set out
in the table below.
