Increased emphasis on user's favorite teams and fantasy sports; Members now
have the ability to create their own sports blog

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- CBSSports.com, a leading
Internet sports media service and part of CBS Interactive, today launched the
final version of a redesign of their flagship service that began in August of
2007 with the name change to CBSSports.com. Since that point, CBSSports.com
has undergone a series of site design upgrades that were implemented to
highlight user's favorite teams, fantasy sports and give members the
opportunity to not only interact more with one another but also contribute
content to the service.
The completion of the redesign to CBSSports.com comes as the site is in
the midst of an unprecedented streak in the "loyalty" metrics; visits per
person and minutes per person. Specifically, according to Nielsen//NetRatings,
December 2007 marked the ninth consecutive month that CBSSports.com has
finished first among all major sports sites in both visits per person and
minutes per person.
"The version of CBSSports.com that was unveiled this morning is the
culmination of a number of gradual and subtle improvements to our service that
when taken as a whole represent the largest redesign the site has ever
undergone," said Jason Kint, Senior Vice President and General Manager of
CBSSports.com. "The increased focus on what our users have shown to be most
interested in; their favorite teams, fantasy sports and having the ability to
contribute their opinion should help CBSSports.com continue to lead our
competition in the engagement statistics."
The highlight of the latest version of CBSSports.com is that select
members now have the ability to create their very own sports blog on the site.
Entries to the blogs that attain a high rating from the CBSSports.com
Community have the opportunity to be posted on the CBSSports.com homepage,
alongside works by veteran sports writers such as Scott Miller (MLB), Dennis
Dodd (CFB) and Pete Prisco (NFL). Only All-Star and Superstar members* of the
CBSSports.com Community will be allowed to create their own sports blog.
In addition to the redesign of CBSSports.com, the CBS Sports Store
(CBSSportsStore.com) has also undergone changes to give it a new look and
feel. With wider and cleaner pages consistent with CBSSports.com, the newly
revamped CBS Sports Store has an improved navigation with rollover
functionality that will allow sports fans to easily browse and select from a
great assortment of licensed gear and event gear for their favorite team or
player.
In December 2007, CBSSports.com recorded 7.5 visits per person, the ninth
consecutive month they have led that category among major sports sites.
Additionally, in December 2007, CBSSports.com recorded a total of just over 58
minutes of site consumption per person, the tenth consecutive month they have
led that category among major sports sites. (Nielsen//NetRatings home and work
panel, December 2007)
*After registering as a CBSSports.com Community member, users can begin
the process of developing a reputation on the site with activities such as
contributing to the message boards of their choice, connecting with other
users, participating in fantasy games and by the overall frequency of their
behavior.
All members begin as "Amateurs" and depending on their activity ascend to
"Rookie", "Pro", "All-Star" and eventually to the realm of the "Superstar"
member. All-Star and Superstar members represent the top 20% of all
CBSSports.com Community users and as such are awarded special rights and
privileges on the site such as the ability to create their own blog.
