NEW YORK, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Perfumer and 3rd Dan Black Belt Darryl
Do and his partner / instructor 9th Dan Black Belt Sifu Jac Shamburger are
producing "The Gotham Classic International Martial Arts Tournament." This is
open to all styles and all ages and will be held in New York City at Chelsea
Piers Sports Complex at 23rd & 12th Avenue the weekend of January 26-27, 2008.
As many are still settling into 2008 working on a New Year, New You!,
there is a focus on health and fitness that we want to showcase with
interviews in our journal that cover working out by Sifu Shi Yan Ming, actor
Wesley Snipes' Kung Fu instructor. Interview with Ming Chew PT, former body
builder who has treated Jason Kidd (NJ Nets), Jason Giambi (NY Yankees) and
Renzo Gracie, the legendary Jujitsu Black Belt, on warming up to avoid
injuries and how to treat them.
Fueled by broadcast networks, "Fight Quest" on Discovery, "SPIKE TV," "Fox
Sports Net" with top-rated shows like "THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER," IFL and "World
Combat League" on Versus; Martial Arts have gained a foothold and are stomping
on the market share of "Professional Wrestling" and "Professional Boxing."
Weekend Warriors from all over the World will be converging on New York to
participate and test their skills against each other at The Gotham Classic.
A NASKA (North American Sports Karate Association) rated event, our event
directors are Martial Arts Veterans that train many of today's teams on TV.
There is a handicapped division and one of the highest cash prizes in the
adult black belt division. We encourage participants to bring the spirit of
competition and we will bring entertainment to the Tournament. We have Martial
Arts Demonstrations and Taiko drum performances scheduled for Sunday night for
the Adult Black Belt Grand Championships.
In addition, there will be Specialty Divisions that include Continuous
Fighting and Padded Stick Fighting -- these will be spectacular!
50 Fat Boys Productions will have Talent Scouts looking to sign the next
Martial Arts Superstar!
