TV brands demonstrate NXT-equipped models
at Consumer Electronics Show
NXT plc, a provider of unique sound solutions best known for its flat panel
loudspeaker technology, enjoyed a positive start to 2008 with four major TV
brands presenting flat panel TVs fitted with NXT's Balanced Radiator (BR) drive
units at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Held last week in
Las Vegas, Nevada, CES was attended by over 130,000 industry professionals and
NXT's suites at the Las Vegas Hilton hosted more than 50 private meetings during
the course of the four day show.
The highlight of the event for NXT was the increased adoption of its BR speaker
drive units, a high performance audio solution that combines conventional
loudspeaker principals with NXT's flat panel speaker technology. Two brands
presented pre-production BR-equipped TVs to customers due for launch in calendar
year 2008. Ranging in size from 32" to 52", the TVs featured complementary
leading edge technologies to match the acoustic performance delivered by NXT's
premium audio technology. Two further exhibitors demonstrated prototype TVs
fitted with the space saving BR drive units developed in collaboration with
Shinhint Acoustic Holdings, bringing the number of brands with BR-based TVs at
CES to four.
Various new NXT products were unveiled at CES including a BR-equipped
professional desktop conference system from communications specialist
Tech-Vision and portable speaker products from computer peripherals brand
Targus. US Company Marcato introduced its innovative Outdoor Sound and Solar
Light system based on NXT's SurfaceSound technology enabling it to operate
outside year-round without maintenance. Among the other attending companies on
the show floor, a number of NXT's Far East-based manufacturing licensees
demonstrated new products and concepts in key categories including portable /
travel speakers, 'Made for iPod' and home audio.
NXT held its annual media conference on Tuesday 8 January, attracting 65
journalists to the event which showcases NXT's latest in-market products and new
concepts resulting in numerous interviews, briefings and media coverage for NXT.
Commenting on CES 2008, NXT Chief Executive Officer Peter Thoms, said: "The
progress we've made with Balanced Radiator was underlined by the strength of the
brands presenting products equipped with our technology at CES. A number of key
BR product launches are scheduled for 2008 across various consumer electronics
categories and we expect further announcements in due course. CES is a key
sales and marketing vehicle for NXT, providing us with the opportunity to
present our latest advances to existing and potential customers, industry
influencers and the media in one place. We look forward to returning in 2009."
