Korean rival to Nokia, Samsung Electronics (005930.KS), said on Tuesday it sold 46.3 million cellphones last quarter, up 9 percent from July-September, against a forecast of 48-49 million. But Samsung topped earnings forecasts as it posted a smaller-than-expected dip in its quarterly profit, as strong sales of TV screens eclipsed falling chip prices.

Samsung overtook Motorola Inc. MOT.N for the number two position in the handset market last year.

Nokia, the world's largest cellphone maker, is estimated to have sold 130.7 million handsets last quarter.

Novo said it decided the product, meant to deliver inhaled droplets of liquid insulin, did not have adequate commercial potential given the recent failure to attract patients of Pfizer Inc's (PFE.N) inhaled insulin drug, Exubera.
