TOKYO Jan 16 (Reuters) - Komatsu Ltd (6301.T) will launch a tender offer for Nippei Toyama Corp 6130.T this month to make the machine tool maker a wholly owned unit, spending about 40-50 billion yen ($370-463 million), the Nikkei business daily reported on Wednesday.

Komatsu, the world's No. 2 maker of earth-making equipment, currently owns a nearly 30 percent stake in Nippei Toyama, the newspaper said.

Komatsu released a statement saying nothing had been decided on the matter, but it would make an announcement after a board of directors' meeting later in the day. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi; Editing by Valerie Lee)
