ST LOUIS, Jan. 21, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- LLumar Safety and Security window
films provide a multitude of benefits, including UV protection, energy
conservation, aesthetic enhancements, and perhaps most importantly, safety and
security protection in architectural and automotive applications.
These safety and security advantages were recently confirmed by third-party
testing of LLumar's hurricane and blast resistant capabilities. Glass is the
most vulnerable element of any structure, and the ability to help protect people
and property during severe storms or bomb blasts is critical.
Results from the Hurricane Test Laboratory, LLC (which performs testing for
hurricane and blast damage) and at Factory Mutual Global Group, (insurer of
large corporate complexes), prove that LLumar window film can help provide that
protection against water and windborne debris penetration during hurricanes and
from dangerous flying glass in the event of bomb blasts.
HURRICANE PROTECTION
* LLumar 8 mil clear film was applied to tempered glass and tested to
meet Factory Mutual Global Group's small missile requirements. The
film also passed subsequent cyclic tests.
* LLumar 8 mil solar film was applied to annealed glass and tested to
meet ASTM E 1886/1996 large missile level "C" requirements, along
with subsequent air, water, structural, and cyclic tests.
* In addition, LLumar 8 mil clear film was the only film to pass the
extremely strenuous missile level "D" requirements when tested in
combination with additionally fortified window systems.
BOMB BLAST PROTECTION
* Several combinations of window films and systems were tested to
meet impulse and pressure requirements of most industry-recognized
blast standards. LLumar 8 mil window film achieved a General
Services Administration (GSA) condition level 3b at 6 psi,
42 psi-msec on a single pane window (with and without an attachment
system).
* The LLumar 8 mil film also achieved a GSA 3b at 12.8 psi,
68 psi-msec on a dual pane window with an attachment system.
"Independent testing and validation adds another layer of assurance about the
performance of LLumar films. LLumar is the biggest brand in the world, and
product performance and rigorous technical evaluations are an important part of
earning that position in the market," said Kent Davies, President of CPFilms.
"Our dealers, distributors, and consumers around the world are in a stronger
position as a result of this testing win, and more lives and property will be
protected."
