China BoCom says 2007 net rose 60 pct

SHANGHAI Jan 22 (Reuters) - Bank of Communications (601328.SS)(3328.HK), a major Chinese commercial bank, estimated on Tuesday that net profit rose at least 60 percent in 2007.

The bank cited rapid loan growth and rising income from intermediary business. In 2006, it made a net profit attributable to shareholders in the parent company of 12.55 billion yuan ($1.7 billion).

The bank will release its full 2007 earnings report in coming weeks. Listed Chinese companies are required to make preliminary estimates if they expect to report swings of over 50 percent. ($1 = 7.24 yuan) (Reporting by Andrew Torchia; Editing by David Holmes)
