HELSINKI Jan 22 (Reuters) - Finnish utilities Fortum (FUM1V.HE) and Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) have begun a project to develop a carbon dioxide (CO2) capture system at a power plant in Pori, western Finland, Fortum said on Tuesday.

Fortum said the two companies would analyse alternative technologies this year and to start using CO2 capturing in the power plant in early 2009.

Fortum also said it was testing CO2 capture at its Vartan power plant in Stockholm. (Reporting by Sami Torma; editing by James Jukwey)
