Melanie C. Pereira Joins Conmed Healthcare Management, Inc. in Business

LA PLATA, Md., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Conmed Healthcare
Management, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CMHM), a leading full service provider
of correctional facility healthcare services to county detention centers,
today announced that Melanie C. Pereira Esq., recently retired Director,
Howard County Department of Corrections, has joined the Company as Senior
Director of Business Development and Integration, effective
January 2, 2008.
Ms. Pereira, with nearly thirty-three years of experience in correctional
facility services and management in the state of Maryland, most recently
served as Director of the Howard County Department of Corrections, a position
she held from 1997 through her retirement on December 31, 2007. Prior to her
directorship at Howard County, Ms. Pereira held senior level positions within
Maryland's Division of Correction including Assistant Warden, Warden and
Deputy Commissioner. Ms. Pereira has a Juris Doctorate degree from the
University of Baltimore School of Law and an undergraduate degree in Criminal
Justice from the University of Baltimore.
She is a highly-recognized and credentialed leader in her field, having
won honors for Outstanding Service with the Department of Public Safety and
Correctional Services -- Governor's Citation -- 1997, Maryland State
Department of Education Salute to Excellence Award -- 1998 and The Women's Law
Center Dorothy Beatty Memorial Award -- 1998. She is the immediate past Vice
Chair of the Maryland Commission on Correctional Standards, a past President
of Maryland Correctional Administrators Association, was named as one of
Maryland's Top 100 Women in both 2003 and 2006 and received the Dewitt Award,
the most prestigious award given by the Maryland Correctional Administrators
Association in 2007.
