Positions Company for Significant Expansion SAN FRANCISCO--(Business Wire)--Hyperic Inc., the leader in open source web infrastructure management software, today announced that it has named Dick Williams as Hyperic's chairman of the board. With more than 40 years of technology industry experience, Williams brings extensive operational and leadership expertise to his role, as well as a deep understanding of the enterprise software market. As chairman of the board, Williams will provide the mentorship and executive support necessary for Hyperic's continued expansion. "In two short years, Hyperic has become the clear leader in open source web infrastructure management, demonstrated by both the caliber of its customers and market recognition," said Dick Williams. "I am excited to be working with the team to extend Hyperic's leadership, and to give today's web-based companies the management tools they need to successfully scale with their business demands." Most recently, Williams was CEO of Wily Technology, a leader in web application management, which was acquired by Computer Associates in 2006. Prior to Wily Technology, Williams was co-founder and Chairman of Quokka Sports, an online immersive media company, which completed its initial public offering in 1999. He was also CEO of Illustra Information Technologies, a pioneer of object database technology, which was acquired by Informix in 1996. Earlier in his career, Williams worked for 22 years at IBM in a variety of management roles culminating with his service as vice president with the General Products Division. "We are very pleased to have Dick Williams as chairman of the board. His track record of successfully leading growth companies is a perfect fit for Hyperic's needs at this stage," said Hyperic CEO Javier Soltero. "Last year was Hyperic's strongest year yet, and Dick's experience will be instrumental in providing Hyperic with the strategic and tactical insight to accelerate the company's expansion and market leadership." Williams' appointment comes on the heels of strong momentum across a number of fronts, including the beta launch of Hyperic HQ 3.2 (the software will be generally available in early Q1); a development partnership with Red Hat; two new OEM partnerships, with SpringSource and IONA; and more than 100 new customers added in the second half of 2007. Additionally, Hyperic was recognized by SourceForge as the January 2008 "Project of the Month," and by Enterprise Management Associates for its 2008 "All Star First Team" in Open Source Systems Management.
