ADDISON, Texas--(Business Wire)--MEDHOST, provider of the leading Emergency Department Information
System (EDIS), today announced that the new Scott & White Hospital at
University Medical Campus in Round Rock, Texas, has automated its
emergency department (ED) with MEDHOST's full-suite software. Scott &
White chose MEDHOST because of the system's intuitive design, ease of
use, and customization and interfacing capabilities. The new hospital,
which is fully integrated with Scott & White's main Temple, Texas,
facility, is using MEDHOST to ensure quality patient care, complete
documentation and efficient workflow.
Through MEDHOST's intuitive touch screen technology, clinicians at
Scott & White/UMC are experiencing quick and easy documentation, which
improves accuracy and reduces the chance of errors. Because Scott &
White physicians use extensive order sets, MEDHOST's one touch bedside
order entry removes unnecessary steps and accelerates prompt,
efficient care.
"Our EDIS decision came down to how robust the physician
documentation was, ease of use, and how well it would interface with
our Siemens hospital information system (HIS). MEDHOST is so
intuitive, simple and easy to understand, that no questions need to be
asked - it simply guides you," said Dr. Ross Tobleman, ED medical
director at Scott & White/UMC. "MEDHOST's EDIS ensures that we have a
community-friendly ED that provides top notch and timely patient care.
Its ToolKit feature lets us customize and build on existing templates
while giving us flexibility to react to unexpected events and
regulatory changes. MEDHOST keeps us flexible and always compliant -
qualities that were critical in our EDIS decision-making process."
MEDHOST's Administrative ToolKit provides the hospital with an
easy and effective way to modify processes in real-time, empowering
the hospital to respond to clinical, financial, regulatory and
technical changes instantly with no downtime.
"More hospitals are deploying MEDHOST because we can seamlessly
integrate our system with every leading HIS, which makes the system
important not only to the ED, but to the entire hospital," said Craig
Herrod, president and CEO of MEDHOST. "Scott & White chose MEDHOST for
that reason and because it would ensure more complete documentation
and eliminate errors, while also boosting efficiency. With a shared
goal of providing better care in the ED, MEDHOST gives Scott &
White/UMC a robust tool so clinicians can be efficient and deliver
quality patient care."
MEDHOST currently serves more than 130 facilities, including the
Baylor Healthcare System in Texas, Catholic Healthcare West in
California, Catholic Health System in New York and Tenet Healthcare
Corporation. MEDHOST is the preferred EDIS provider of VHA Inc., a
national cooperative serving more than 2,400 not-for-profit healthcare
organizations. MEDHOST easily integrates with leading hospital
information systems, including MEDITECH, Cerner, Siemens and McKesson.
