Former Tyco Senior Vice President and White House Deputy Counsel Strengthens
New York White Collar Practice

NEW YORK, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Global law firm White & Case LLP today
announced that Timothy E. Flanigan, former Senior Vice President and Deputy
General Counsel at Tyco International and Deputy Counsel in the White House,
has rejoined the Firm as a partner in its White Collar Practice in New York.
Flanigan's appointment reflects the practice's solid growth driven by
strong client demand as governments worldwide increasingly rely on both
criminal and civil penalties to enforce the law of white collar crime.
"It is great to have Tim back at White & Case, and our clients will
immediately benefit from his combination of high-level in-house and government
experience," said Partner George J. Terwilliger, III, head of the Firm's White
Collar Practice. "His addition provides an added dimension to our
capabilities to advise clients worldwide.
"As regulatory enforcement has followed business globalization, it is
widely recognized that this can present great risks to revenue. Tim knows
firsthand the need to find ways to provide first-rate services efficiently
while helping companies in a challenging regulatory and enforcement
environment. His appointment furthers our commitment to expand our
capabilities to help companies meet that challenge as we address more cases,
in more places, with more at stake than ever before," Terwilliger noted.
Flanigan has 26 years' experience at the highest levels of private
practice, government service and in-house corporate representation, including
serving in the White House as Deputy Assistant and Deputy Counsel to the
President of the United States, serving in the US Department of Justice as
Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel and acting as
Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Tyco International. He
was previously a partner at White & Case, where he focused on white collar
criminal and civil litigation. Earlier in his career, he served as senior law
clerk for US Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren E. Burger. Flanigan received
his J.D. from the University of Virginia and his B.A. from Brigham Young
University.
"I'm delighted to be back at White & Case," said Flanigan. "My experience
successfully managing serious legal and reputational challenges at Tyco
following the misconduct of its prior managers, as well as my senior
government roles, have given me a perspective that I believe will benefit our
clients."
The White Collar Practice of White & Case provides counsel to corporations
and their leaders in domestic and international civil and criminal
enforcement, including criminal and securities fraud, health care fraud,
financial institution fraud, antitrust violations, environmental statutory
enforcement actions, criminal tax matters, international boycott and trade
restriction cases and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act matters. In 2007, PLC
Which Lawyer? ranked the group as "highly recommended," and in 2006, The
National Law Journal listed George Terwilliger as one of the "100 Most
Influential Lawyers in America."
