American Seafoods' Community Advisory Board Announces Availability of $30,000 for its Alaska Community Grant Program
Applications Due Feb.11 for February Grants
SEATTLE--(Business Wire)--The Community Advisory Board (CAB) of American Seafoods Company,
LLC, one of the nation's largest at-sea seafood processors, today
announced that it is accepting applications for its grant program. The
deadline to submit an application is Feb. 11.
The CAB awards $75,000 annually to projects throughout rural
Alaska. In February, the CAB will allocate a total of $30,000 to
community projects that tackle issues such as hunger, housing, safety,
education, research, natural resources and cultural activities.
In December, the CAB awarded $30,000 to a variety of programs,
including Brother Francis Shelter ($1,200); BBNA Workforce Education
($1,000); Unalaska Senior Citizens ($3,000); and Veteran's Aviation
Outreach Inc. ($2,700).
"We are grateful to have this opportunity from the American
Seafoods' CAB to help fund college tuition for members of our
community," said Annie Fritze, manager of BBNA Workforce Education
Program. "This grant will allow us to support the community's efforts
to have locals attend classes through the University of Alaska
Fairbanks, Bristol Bay Campus."
The CAB evaluates each proposal using the following criteria: the
need in the community, project benefits, the number of people that
will benefit from the program, which individuals the award is intended
for, and the ability to garner additional funding.
The CAB recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and has granted
more than $700,000 over that time toward organizations and programs.
CAB grant recipients will be chosen at the CAB's meeting on Feb. 19.
"The Community Advisory Board's grant program is a great way for
American Seafoods to reward the organizations involved in the
improvement of our communities," said Inge Andreassen, President of
American Seafoods Company. "We are honored to contribute to the growth
and enhancement of these organizations."
Applications for the grant program are available online at
www.americanseafoods.com, or by contacting Kim Lynch at
kim.lynch@americanseafoods.com or 206-256-2659. Completed applications
should be returned to Lynch at American Seafoods using email, fax at
