Arcadian Networks Fills Communications Need for First Responders & Critical
Infrastructure Industries
Offers 700 MHz Solution for Wireless Communications in Rural America

    VALHALLA, N.Y., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The nation's police, fire and
other first responders and critical infrastructure industries now have a
secure, wireless solution for their communications needs in rural America.
Arcadian Networks (www.arcadiannetworks.com), is going to make available its
piece of the 700 MHz spectrum, in conjunction with leveraging the already
allocated 700 MHz spectrum allotted to first responders, to help build-out a
nation-wide communications network.
Arcadian Networks has created a private, secure, wireless network for
electric utilities and other critical infrastructure industries leveraging its
licensed spectrum, and the utilities tower and backhaul infrastructure. The
first customer operating on the network is Great River Energy (GRE), the
nation's fourth largest electric co-op. Great River Energy is based in
Minnesota and extends into parts of Wisconsin.
"Arcadian Networks believes that the value of the 700 MHz spectrum has yet
to be fully developed. The work we are doing with Great River Energy to
empower its electric utility coop members to monitor and collect data from its
critical infrastructure, while enabling mobile data and voice activities is
exactly the type of support our first responders need," said Gil Perez, chief
executive officer of Arcadian Networks. "Frontline was a key player in
driving public awareness and the FCC to the pressing need of a private and
secure network for critical infrastructure industries and public safety.
Unfortunately Frontline was unable to execute on its vision. Arcadian
Networks is taking a different route to the same destination. We are
technology agnostic, and have a proven competence to maximize the capacity and
capabilities of existing physical infrastructures. By partnering with
critical infrastructure industries, police, fire, and other public safety
organizations to leverage their slice of the 700 MHz spectrum, we believe that
Arcadian Networks can succeed where Frontline fell short."
Arcadian Networks (AN) provides custom, private, wireless managed
communication systems for energy companies (electric, oil and gas companies).
The company specializes in connecting rural areas that are home to mission-
critical assets beyond the reach of other carriers -- solving the "last mile"
challenge. Networks are built using ruggedized equipment best suited for
extreme weather conditions and terrains. Additionally, as a major holder of
700 MHz spectrum covering over 75 percent of the continental U.S. and the Gulf
of Mexico, Arcadian Networks' systems offer economies of scale which flow
directly to its customers.
"With Arcadian Networks' solution, Great River Energy did not face the
obstacle of disrupting its existing communications infrastructure and it was
more sensible than building a secure network from scratch, which would have
been costly, time-intensive and complicated. Arcadian Networks real-time
broadband communications platform was easily implemented and now provides a
foundation for ongoing "smart-grid" applications, which will continue to
reduce operational costs and improve resiliency," said Jim Jones, CIO and Vice
President of Great River Energy.
    About Arcadian Networks
Arcadian Networks provides "last mile" wireless carrier services to the
energy sector (electric, water, and gas utilities and oil and gas companies).
The company's 700 MHz licensed spectrum delivers a converged IP network with
voice and data communications for fixed and mobile applications. The real-time
broadband communications platform reduces operational costs, improves
resiliency, and transforms electric grids into efficient "smart grids" and oil
fields into optimized "smart fields". For more information, visit:
