                              EXERCISE OF WARRANTS


Afren PLC ("Afren" or the "Company") announces that it was notified on 18
January 2008 that Equity Development Limited has exercised warrants over 37,279
ordinary shares in the Company.

Consequently, the Company has today issued and allotted, conditional on
admission, 37,279 Ordinary Shares of 1p each.  The shares will rank pari passu
with the existing Ordinary Shares of 1p each in the Company. Application for
admission has been made for the shares, which is expected to be effective on 28
January 2008.


Following the share issue, the Company's outstanding issued share capital will 
be 273,043,842 Ordinary Shares.
