                   HALFORDS GROUP PLC: PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES


Halfords Group PLC announces that on 22 January 2008 it purchased for
cancellation 41,670 of its ordinary shares at a price of 251.6798p per ordinary
share.

Following the above purchase, the Company have now bought back 14,402,804 shares
for cancellation, since the 8 June 2006 when the buy back programme commenced.
