                           Transactions in own shares

Wilmington Group PLC announces that it has today purchased through Hoare Govett 
Limited 15,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 193.6 pence per share. 
The highest price paid for these shares was 194 pence and lowest price paid was 
193 pence. The purchased shares will all be held as treasury shares.

Following the above purchase, the Company holds 1,057,000 ordinary shares in 
Treasury and has a total of 83,279,679 ordinary shares (excluding 
shares held in Treasury) in issue.

The number of ordinary shares purchased represented 0.02% of the voting rights 
attributable to the total ordinary shares in issue prior to such purchases.
