TOKYO Jan 22 (Reuters) - Japanese banks' gains on their significant bond holdings are likely to offset unrealised losses from a fall in equities, the head of the Japanese Bankers Association said on Tuesday.

Masayuki Oku, who is also the president of the core banking unit at Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (8316.T), made the comment at a regular news conference. (Reporting by David Dolan)
