MUNICH Jan 22 (Reuters) - Germany's Siemens AG (SIEGn.DE) plans to expand its range of alternative energy products, aiming to benefit from growing demand for green power, a German weekly magazine reported on Tuesday.

"We will broaden our base," Wolfgang Dehen, head of Siemens' new energy division, told Manager Magazin in a preview of a report to be published on Friday.

Siemens currently concentrates solely on wind energy in terms of renewables.

Dehen said Siemens hopes to beat the competition by making its offers more customer-oriented. The target is to sell more new units in three years than rival General Electric (GE.N), Dehen said.

Wind energy is expected to keep growing this year on a global scale but is seen slowing down in Germany, the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) said on Tuesday.

Interest in alternative energy sources has skyrocketed due to concerns about climate change and soaring fossil-fuel prices. (Reporting by Nicola Leske; Editing by David Holmes)
