HOUSTON, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Key sweets rose and sours were
steady in slow roll-period trade Thursday as U.S. cash crude
dealers balanced their books on the eve of pipeline
scheduling.
Light Louisiana Sweet LLS- traded as high as $3.25 over
West Texas Intermediate CLc1, up 35 cents. Mars sour MRS-
sold for -$8.50, unchanged.
It was the second day of roll trade after the WTI February
contract expired Tuesday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
The deadline for scheduling pipeline shipments is Friday.
Most traders had already finished their work for the month,
and many deals were small, book-balancing transactions.
On futures markets, March WTI CLH8 rose $2.42, to $89.41,
despite higher crude and gasoline stocks and after agreement
between Congress and the White House on an economic stimulus
package.
 March Brent LCOH8 rose $2.45 to $89.07.
 The roll hovered around +50/+70.
Among other cash crudes, Heavy Louisiana Sweet HLS-
changed hands at +50 cents, up more than $1 from deals reported
Wednesday. Eugene Island EUI- was unchanged at +50/+70
cents.
West Texas Sour WTS- bargained weaker at -$6.75/-$6.25,
off 50 cents. WTI Midland WTM- moved up to -20 cents at even
from -25 at -10 cents.
Sours Poseidon PSD- and Southern Green Canyon SGC- were
mixed, Poseidon down 45 cents at -$9.25/-$8.75 and SGC up 25
cents at -$9.25/-$8.75.
