Annan says "fair steps" taken in meeting of Kenya rivals

NAIROBI (Reuters) - Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki and opposition leader Raila Odinga took "fair steps" towards dialogue in their first meeting since a disputed December 27 election unleashed weeks of bloodshed, former U.N. chief Kofi Annan said on Thursday.
After a meeting mediated by Annan, Kibaki said he was confident of a solution and Odinga pledged to spare no effort for peace.
