A cross is seen in Joplin, Missouri May 17, 2012. May 22 marks the one year anniversary of a deadly EF-5 tornado that ripped through the town, killing 161 people. The tornado damaged or destroyed about 7,500 homes and 500 other buildings, but the city is now well into a recovery mode that has spurred some segments of the local economy. Prosecutors not probing SocGen insider trading

PARIS | Wed Jan 30, 2008 9:03am EST

PARIS (Reuters) - Paris prosecutors have decided not to open an investigation into allegations of insider trading at Societe Generale and are seeking advice from the French markets regulator AMF, a prosecutor said on Wednesday.

A lawyer representing around 100 small SocGen shareholders said earlier this week he had complained to police about possible insider trading after it was revealed a SocGen director sold about a million shares on January 9 and January 10.

SocGen said the manager sold the shares well before a rogue trading scandal was uncovered.
