BRUSSELS Feb 1 (Reuters) - Belgian drugs, chemicals and plastics maker Solvay (SOLB.BR) confirmed on Friday the sale of its Caprolactones business to Sweden's Perstorp Group for 200 million euros ($297.3 million), following regulatory approval.

The transaction was announced in October last year, cleared by the European Commission in January and, Solvay said in a statement, was accounted for in its fourth quarter 2007 accounts.

Caprolactones are used in the manufacture of polyurethane adhesives to enhance performances in a wide range of applications, according to the industry.

Perstorp is a unit of PAI Partners of France, a private equity firm.

The EC said in January that the sale would not result in any anti-competitive effects as the merged entity would not have the ability to restrict its competitors' access to polyhydric alcohols. (Reporting by Ingrid Melander; Editing by Louise Ireland)
