BUDAPEST Feb 14 (Reuters) - Hungary's competition watchdog GVH has fined the Hungarian unit of British supermarket chain Tesco (TSCO.L) 100 million forints ($546,200) for misleading consumers in its advertisements last year, GVH said on Thursday.

The watchdog said certain products Tesco said would be sold at a reduced price between Jan. 19 and Feb. 1 last year were not on the shelves in some or all of the supermarkets of the company, Tesco Global Aruhazak Zrt.

GVH said the company had breached the law several times in a similar way in the past five years but had taken serious measures to restore lawful operations.

Officials of the company were not immediately available for comment. (Reporting by Sandor Peto, editing by Will Waterman)
