The Longitudes conference also received the silver award for the Best Business to Business campaign as given by the Marketing Agencies Association Globe Awards. Also recognized in the awards was Jack Morton Worldwide - a Global experiential agency that continues to execute the Longitudes conference for UPS. The Longitudes summit, now in its fifth year, is produced by UPS in collaboration with Harvard Business Conferences. The event is designed to showcase the forces that are reshaping global trade and supply chain strategies, and to offer tangible insights into enhancing business competitiveness. Longitudes 07, held in Toronto on June 21 and 22, brought together global political leaders, prominent academics and supply chain thinkers, and leading supply chain practitioners to share their views on globalization, global trade, and trade within North America. The speakers and participants focused on three primary areas: A global perspective: Former US President, William J. Clinton; former Mexican President, Vicente Fox; and former New Brunswick Premier and Canadian Ambassador to the United States, Frank McKenna discussed the climate for global and North American trade. They emphasized the benefits of free trade and highlighted the challenges related to globalization. The vision of the supply chain: UPS's Chairman and CEO, Mike Eskew, shared UPS's vision for synchronized global commerce and for a customized, one-to-one supply chain that provides customers what they want when they want it. The supply chain in practice: Leading executives and supply chain practitioners from Starbucks, Chrysler, Hitachi, Arrow Electronics, and Warrior Sports (part of New Balance) shared their insights and real-world supply chain experiences. They shared best practices and described how they are leveraging their supply chain to improve their competitive position. Event Marketing magazine's EX Award is considered the event industry's preeminent award. In evaluating each entry, judges look for evidence of campaigns that show clear strategic thinking, innovation, and effectiveness. This year's EX Awards drew more than 600 entries from around the world. The Marketing Agencies Association Globe Awards champion the highest standards of excellence and recognition in the marketing communications industry. The program, established in 1985, is the industry's leading international recognition program for the world's most outstanding marketing campaigns. "Earning these awards is very rewarding and a testament to what we do - bringing meaningful content to events - to in turn drive business results," said Eric McNulty, Director of Conferences at Harvard Business Conferences. "By helping executives better understand the challenges they face, they are more equipped to run their businesses effectively. For more information about Longitudes 2007, visit the event Web site.
